[[You’re about as symbolic as jello nailed to a tree.]]

Posted by teenagezombiegirl in Uncategorized

I’m not going to read through the book to find a sentence that is symbolic, simply because I tend to look at the bigger picture. The whole story is symbolic, mainly the fish and the fisherman. There’s an old man, who is sacrificing everything at this point to catch this huge fish. He’s been hanging on to the line for one night + a day and a half. Then there’s this fish with a hook in its cheek who is pulling the fisherman in his boat and he won’t stop. Two people who want something so badly, they won’t stop fighting for it. Constantly and repetitively pulling each other to the metaphorical cliff and holding them there. Finally the fisherman saw the big picture, which is the most symbolic part of this whole sequence.

“Unless sharks come,” he said aloud. “If sharks come, God pity him and me.”

This is…..exciting??

Posted by teenagezombiegirl in Uncategorized

So finally we are getting somewhere in this book……kindof. The old man hooks a fish. Is this a huge deal or something? I thought he was “the best” fisherman ever, so wouldn’t that mean he would’ve already caught tons of fish? Why is this one any different? Do we even know this old man’s name yet? Hmphf. Well anyway, there was one line that stood out from all the others. You know me, I love those lame poetic and pretty sentences so here’s one for you that I liked.

“The myriad flecks of the plankton were annulled now by the high sun and it was only the great deep prisms in the blue water that the old man saw now with his lines going straight down into the water that was a mile deep.”

I love how tangible and picturesque this sentence is. It makes me think of this prism that my dad gave me when I was twelve.  I always said my favorite color was rainbow, so he told me that it had all my favorite colors in it if I held it up to the light and turned it in several directions.

 C’ya guys later!

The FIRST EVER Cobbler Caravan car accident EVER. And it was us.

Posted by teenagezombiegirl in Uncategorized

I’m sure most of you have heard about the huge car wreckage in the cobbler caravan?

Yeeeaahhh………….Kaitlyn was driving, I was in the front seat, and Kori was in the back. Haha, it was definately us.

So we are almost at the four way stop in front of the school IN the Cobbler Caravan in Kaitlyn’s sweet decorated car right? And about fifteen feet in front of us is this huge blue van thats stopped. Well, I thought Kaitlyn was looking forward but apparently she wasn’t paying attention or something and I noticed the van in front of us was getting closer and closer! All in a split second, I realized that we weren’t slowing down at all, Kori yells “STOP!” and at the last minute I yell “OH (*&#!!”. We SMASHED into the back of the van. Like, really really hard. The airbags deploy and I can taste the powder of them and smell the fireworkey smell of them. I asked if we should get out of the car cuz I had never been in an accident before, but no one answered so I opened my door and we all got out. Kaitlyn’s car is TOTALED, the whole front end is smashed in and the van didn’t get a freaking scratch, except for our headlight was in the back of their van but it wasn’t damaged (the car). The passenger chick steps out of the back of the van and she’s whining about “Omg I haaave whiplash….” to everyone, Kaitlyn (other passenger) is crying like a drama queen for some reason I have no idea because they hardly even got jossled. To make a long ending of the story short, I’m limping a bit with a bruised leg and kaitlyn has a big scratch on her face but that’s about it. Haha its sweet, you can see an imprint from the seams from the airbag on my leg still. I’ll post pics later =]

So yep, that was us. We will most definately be in the yearbook as “The first EVER cobbler caravan crash ever.”

Cuz that’s how we roll. <3

What do the fish have to say about getting hooked?

Posted by teenagezombiegirl in Uncategorized

Okay so, after we finished reading the first 31 pages of “The Old man and the Sea,” it sounds exactly like I thought it would so far. For lack of better words, it’s boring. This book is doomed for the bonfire. I mean seriously, the title says it all. There’s this old man, and he fishes. In the sea. See? If you were in Borders and you could only pick one book because you have the salary of a ten-year-old, would you pick a bland looking book called “The Old man and the Sea,” or would you pick a book called “Pick up this book because it will change your life forever”? Yes, exactly. Although I have to admit, there was one sentence that caught my eye a bit. Page 10,

”Everything about him was old except his eyes and they were the same color as the sea and were cheerful and undefeated.”

I have often met people who remind me of this sentence. People who have encountered every struggle life threw at them, but their eyes look as young and carefree as a child’s.

Hey, Haymarket Hotel!

Posted by teenagezombiegirl in Uncategorized

I found the most amazing hotel in New York! The Haymarket Hotel was designed by well known artist, John Nash. I was first drawn to the article by the modern-esque picture.

But later in my reading, I could picture the rest of the hotel perfectly in my head because of all the descriptive writing. The description of features in the hotel, like the pool, were very vivid and made me want to participate in whatever the hotel was telling me to. It was apparent that the writer loved the style of the hotel, because the descriptions he used for the rooms were very emotive. And of course, from the pool to the bar, there was something to tickle every one of our five senses. In the hotel itself, you will find a “gorgeous 60-ft pool, hypnotically lighted by the ever-changing wall installation”, and several seating areas with modish sofas, including a few covered in gold lamé.

A bloggers point of view…

Posted by teenagezombiegirl in Uncategorized

What is a blog. There are no other questions in the English language with as many possible answers as this one. A blog can be tons of things. A blog can be the life story of a man with a midlife crisis. It can be a teenager who just fell in love for the first time. It can be the only way two people are linked together in the “big scheme of things.” Maybe to you it’s all three. All I know is that my blog is a bunch of little blurbs that sum up my life at a certain point. If you look at the history of my other blog, it might sound to you like a convincing soap opera. Some days my blog will be a two-page long rant about someone that stirred things up a bit. While other days, you might find only a few sentences. I guess it’s all about expression, as cliche as that may seem. And I am not one to let cliches escape from my lips, but it’s true. Yes, I am one of those artsy people that hangs out in coffee shops with my laptop and constantly thinks of more things I can do to get info out about animal cruelty. But hey, I’m veering off this road by 26 miles. Let’s get back on track.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I was born typing html and css codes onto a little monitor. Me=comp nerd. Big time. A blank ulgy page is like a canvas to me. Give me a boring page and I’ll give you a million keyboard clicks and a colorful page. But aaanywho, I’ve gotta go!

Blog ya later!
